Qualifying to Buy a Habitat Home
Families must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Habitat for Humanity program:
Resident Status- Homeowners must be a United States citizen or permanent legal resident.
First-Time Home Buyer- Must NOT have owned a home in the past three years.
Need- Currently living in sub-standard, subsidized, overcrowded or unaffordable housing.
Willingness to Partner- Must contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity" (300 for single-parent households) before moving into your home.
Ability to Pay- Must meet income
requirements and be able to make monthly payments between $650-800 on a zero-interest
mortgage.
