Meet our Partner Families
The Riggs family has been selected as our 2012 SLAMMS build. Lisa Riggs is a hard-working, widowed single mother of two and a lifelong resident of the Santiam Canyon. Although Lisa works full time as a Jeld-Wen parts manufacturer, finances are tight and the family has endured difficulties affording the cost of rent and utilities. Memories raising her children and the community's friendly faces and feeling of closeness make it a place Lisa hopes to one day be able to call a permanent home for her loving family. Construction on their home will begin in 2012.
The Alvarados and their three sons ages 16, 12 and two currently live in an a older three-bedroom home in need of repairs. The family enjoys spending time together and keeping active- the eldest son fishes and hunts, the 12-year-old wrestles and the youngest loves Winnie the Pooh books and trucks. The Alvarados are happy to be partnering with Habitat for Humanity and look forward to owning a safe home for their growing family.
