John and Erika Goetz and their two daughters have been selected as our Veteran Build partner family. John, an Army veteran who works full-time in publishing and distribution for the state of Oregon, and Erika, a stay at home mom, are involved in the Awana program at First Baptist Church in Salem and Bible study at Salem Alliance Church. The family currently lives in an older rental home with black mold, sewer septic tank issues and an unresponsive landlord. Besides being unhealthy, the rental is so overcrowded their eldest daughter has to sleep in the garage. The Goetz family is excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity in building a healthy, energy-efficient home near good schools for their daughters.

Construction will begin on their home in September 2011.
